How
SBI! Works
Or,
How I Explain... the SBI! Action Guide, CTPM and BAMHow does SBI!
work? Well, quite simply, SBI! works by combining... -
A philosophy of CTPM
- Mixed with a
dash of BAM,
- And the actual steps you
need to take are all explained
via the SBI! Action
Guide.
So are you happy with that explanation or
do I need to explain a bit more? :-) Okay, I will do just that. Again, in
my own words, with my own understanding... (You can read
about who SBI! works for here! ) How
SBI! Works - What is CTPM?C-T-P-M stands for Content, Traffic, PREsell,
and Monetization. It's the philosophy behind the success of SBI! sites
(AND - if you look close enough - this is how sites like Facebook, MySpace and
even Google succeed!) To explain CTPM a bit further...
|
Reality: people search for information (content)
Theme-based and topical, your site gets lots of free traffic
|
Develop trust by OVERdelivering relevant information
Interestingly, if you do CTP right, then this is the easiest bit
|
It still feels like jargon thought, doesn't it? Okay, what CTPM
really means to you: - You create Content - tips, articles,
anything that people are looking for, and that you have a passion or interest
in (or that your existing business is about).. And you keep on creating content
until you have a website with 50, 100 or even 150+ pages. (And you find out whether
people are looking for certain content using Brainstorm It! - a research tool.)
- As
your website is theme-based and topical (thanks to your research), and optimized
for the search engines (the Action Guide shows you how this gets done), your
site gets free Traffic from the search engines.
- As your website
has such great content, written in your voice, with a specific target visitor
in mind, you develop trust - also known as Preselling(*)
- With
lots of great content, and happy visitors it's not that difficult to turn traffic
into Money
Simple, eh! Yet none of the above will happen without
the SBI Action Guide or without BAM. More on these now.. (*) Note:
A key resource that specifically helps you with the PREselling part of CTPM is
an ebook called Make Your Content PREsell, included in SBI! You
can download it for free here! Back to

How SBI! Works - What is
BAM?Well BAM is the easiest part of the 'how SBI works' process to explain.
It simply means Brain Attitude Motivation. Bam! Yes,
you do need to use your brain to succeed, whatever you do - and succeeding
with SBI! is no different. (I am not saying you have to own a rocket scientist
brain, by the way. Just a brain that can learn new things.) And, of course, nothing
of much use gets done without motivation! So you've got to have a little
BAM to succeed with SBI! I think that's a fair enough requirement, though. Now
onto the SBI! Action Guide (big, deep breaths please)... Back

How SBI! Works -
What is the SBI! Action Guide? The SBI! Action Guide is a step-by-step
resource that shows what you have to do and when you have to do it, to build a
successful web business. You can do the Action guide as videos, or you can read
it. "The SBI! Action Guide is a mentor..." Yes,
that is a good way to describe the SBI! Action Guide - as mentor: a guide that
takes you each step of the way. Okay, let's take a quick look at the steps
of the Action Guide.. Firstly, the obvious thing to say is that the ten
"days" of the Action Guide are anything but days in reality. Don't
think it will only take you a day to achieve a set goal - it might do, but it
probably will take you days, weeks or even months to finish this Action Guide.
(I still haven't reached Day 10 - monetization - nearly one year after purchasing
SBI) Action Guide Day 01. Understand
Basics This is as much an introduction to how to succeed in business
as it is an introduction to the philosophy behind SBI!, namely: CTPM. And
you know all about CTPM now, don't you! ;-) (See above, if not!) Action
Guide Day 02. Site Concept SBI! sites are built around a specific theme.
Not too broad, and not too narrow - a bit like the story of Goldilocks and the
Three Bears, and the porridge. (Remember?) The theme you choose for your site
is (generally) based around one of your passions or interests - self-help,
for me. And your goal is to come up with up to 3 site concepts, so you can
determine which is the best. (I went with a single site concept, however.)
This
is the day you start to use Sitesell's proprietary keyword research tool called
Brainstorm It! NEW! Brainstorm
It! has just been updated (July, 2009) with a new interface and new functionality,
and is much more powerful - see SBI! tools, for
details!

Action Guide Day 03. Profitable
Topics This is when the fun begins! Most SBI owners find this 'day'
the toughest as it's when you have to fully research your site, and come up with
a 'site blueprint'. It's quite challenging brain-work looking at keyword
supply and demand, when you have to use those numbers to determine what your website
is going to be about. (Keywords are the words you'll be building your site pages
around and the words people type into search engines.) Actually, this is
a bit of a mind-boggling day. Or it can be. But it's worth the effort - successfully
using the Brainstorm It! tool, and coming up with a blueprint of what your site
will be about. NOTE: this is still the planning planning stage of your site,
by the way. No pages have been built and no domain has been registered! Yes, patience
is required as an SBI site owner! Action
Guide Day 04. Plan Monetization More planning, I'm afraid. Today you
simply want to find out whether you can make money from your website. Are there
advertisers on Google Adwords (or similar) for keywords that relate to your website?
And what about Ebay products? Ebooks or books on Amazon? Etc. This planning
is important - for all but hobbyists, anyway! As there's no point building a website
that you can't make money from. Is there?

Guide Day 05. Refine Concept All the work you did on Day 03 has to be
honed, refined and tweaked until you come up with a particular 'spin' that works
for your site and fits with you. Example? Well, my SBI! site is a self-help
website. And there are lots of those already. So I wanted to make mine different
by being guru-free - many existing self-help sites have a 'guru' in charge telling
you what they know. Now I'm no self-help expert but I am interested in
self-help, so I thought I'd encourage everyone to share their wisdom (as well
as to look for help, when they needed it). And thus The Self Help Collective
came into being. (You can follow most of my thought
processes by reading my SBI Diary, should you be interested.) This can
also be a tough day, as finding the right spin is not easy!

Guide Day 06. Build Site Today and onwards you start to build your website.
One page at a time... This was the easiest day for me as I already know
how to build web sites (I use Dreamweaver and taught myself the basics of HTML
in 1998). So I just created a variety of Dreamweaver templates, and then created
a home page, some tier2 pages and some tier3 pages(*). And off I went. Those
with no HTML skills have to learn how to use SBI's point-and-click Block Builder.
I've never used the block builder so can't comment. I'd just say that most, if
not all, SBI users get the hang of Block Builder - but there is a bit of a learning
curve. (*) Note: SBI! follows a particular site hierarchy. It treats
the homepage as tier1. It treats the main subject pages as tier2 - and you link
to tier2 pages from the homepage. And it treats the rest of the pages as tier3
- and you link to tier3 pages only from related tier2 pages. Sounds confusing,
but it's friendly to both search engines and site visitors. :-)

Guide Day 07. Free Traffic Ah, free traffic! :-) Free traffic is the
goal for everyone who builds a website, but only search engine specialists
(increasingly) and SBI! owners get to fulfill that particular goal. How?
Well, by basically continuing to build more and more pages, and by building inbound
links via SBI's Value Exchange program. (You don't have to be an SBI owner to
use Value Exchange by the way. Read about Value Exchange
here! ) Action Guide Day 08. Relationships This
is about creating contact forms - so site visitors can contact you - and also
about setting up your newsletter or ezine. (All done via SBI's
in-built tools, by the way.) As well as setting up an RSS feed and blog page.
(You don't really need to know what RSS means - it's just another way for you
to distribute your site content, and it's done (in SBI!) automatically. The
best part of this building relationships day is a module called Content 2.0.
It's SBI's way of making your site what's known as Web 2.0; i.e. it allows your
visitors to comment directly on your content automatically (and others visitors
can comment on their comments etc.) - think MySpace, Yahoo! Answers, Digg... This
is a fuzzy day - for me, anyway - but important nevertheless. You need to build
up relationships with your site visitors, and with the social networking sites
that your potential visitors might visit.

Guide Day 09. Know Visitor And how do you know how many people are visiting
your website and which pages they're visiting? Well, that's the sort of question
that gets answered on this day. Basically, SBI! comes with its own web stats
package, so you can measure these things directly. You can also track which pages
visitors go to and from. Action Guide Day 10. Monetize *THE*
most important day, perhaps. The day you start to implement moneymaking strategies
for your website. The day your web site turns into a web business. And all
of the major monetization strategies are considered. All of them. And the member-only
SBI! forums become even more useful, when you discuss what works and what
doesn't work with other SBI site owners. (Actually, you're encouraged to
visit the SBI! forums at every stage of the Action Guide. It helps with any problems
you might face - and there will be the odd one, for sure - and it also allows
you to help others too. Something I'm quite keen on, as you'd no doubt realise
if you visited SelfHelpCollective.com
;-) .) Action Guide In Summary...
Actually, I can't
really summarize the SBI! Action Guide. Instead, what I can do is suggest you take a long, close look at the action Guide for yourself. And you can do so at the link below.
Note: even if you never purchase
a subscription to SBI! the Action Guide is a great online education in how to create an online business!
